confident and authentic speaker

There’s no such thing as “public” speaking…

There’s only speaking. Having a conversation with the audience. One person at a time. While the Podium Power! JumpStart program stresses presentation skills, Matthew’s Intensive workshop covers both sides of the Presentation Paradox – both Preparation and Presence.

Most corporate executives and managers have developed a few standard presentations – sometimes developed by in-house communications staff. Matthew uses the Intensive program and follow-up one-on-one coaching sessions to give speakers and their support staff the tools they need to fine-tune and punch up existing presentations and make them more compelling.

The Intensive workshop combines lectures packed with original insights gleaned from years of experience, interactive discussions, and experiential learning. Like the JumpStart workshop, this program stresses a natural, conversational style, the importance of one-on-one connection with audience members, and developing a spontaneous, in-the-moment presence. Matthew creates a safe, supportive environment in a workshop that includes multiple opportunities for participants to address the small group “audience.”

The Wizard of Oz Formula: Discover what the Tin Man, the Scarecrow and the Cowardly Lion can teach us about indispensable elements of effective speeches.
Twenty-Two Tips: Includes practical insights and pointers, including proper use of Power Points and other visuals, stance and posture, the difference between using talking points versus a prepared text, and watching your ums and uhs.
Visualization Exercises: Create a “speaking sanctuary” and employ pre-speech affirmations to establish a positive mindset, which facilitates speaking with confidence, comfort and authenticity.
