Yorktown Heights, NY – November 29 , 2006 – HabitForce! author Matthew Cossolotto, aka The Empowerment Pro, announced today that he will join the Derek Jacobs “You Are The Future” Foundation as a board member, vice president, and media spokesman.
“I’m delighted that I will be working closely with Leslie and Jeff Jacobs and their new ‘You Are The Future’ Foundation dedicated to Derek’s memory,” Cossolotto said. “Derek was a remarkable person with virtually unlimited potential. I’m honored that the Foundation will immediately offer my HabitForce! and Podium Power! programs to help young people reach their potential. In fact, I’m so excited about to the positive mission of the Foundation that I’ve decided to donate twenty percent of the proceeds from my book sales – both HabitForce! and my forthcoming Podium Power! book -- to the Foundation to support its important educational work.”
Teen technology prodigy, Derek Jacobs, was honored posthumously with the first-ever ID Talent Award last night at the ID World International Congress in Milan, Italy. In accepting Derek’s award, parents Leslie and Jeffrey Jacobs announced formation of the Derek Jacobs “You Are The Future” Foundation.
Derek Jacobs was killed in a traffic accident in Florida on September 30, 2006, at the age of 18. He became the focus of worldwide media attention as the first civilian (age 14) in the world to receive an implanted medical information microchip. The so-called “chipping” event was covered live on NBC’s Today Show on May 10, 2002.
In describing the motivational programs to be offered by the Foundation, Leslie Jacobs said: “Jeffrey and I are pleased that our friend and associate, Matthew Cossolotto, will be working with the Foundation. We believe his personal empowerment programs are especially effective in helping young people achieve their potential. Our plan is to begin offering these programs immediately through the Foundation. Derek would be very proud to know that his memory will live on through programs that empower young people to create a better future.”
